Comfortably Numb – Fiction in Fifty

Not actually fiction!

Jean explored her mouth with a tongue that felt huge and bloated. Still numb. That fiend with a hypodermic came unbidden to her memory. She pushed the unwanted vision away and tried unsuccessfully to drink the hot tea. The dentist appointment was hours ago – would the anaesthetic ever wear off?

Juggling Stories and Life

Writers, how many works-in-progress do you have? I’ve got four short stories, one of which is not that short and one novel – including the second in the series, and I haven’t finished book one yet!

I’m also reading – novels, history books, current events, writing advice and other people’s short stories.

Then there’s the Youtube videos about restoration (for writing), mudlarking and music. Music keeps me company when I’m using my computer and I research music for my other hobby – I’m a radio presenter at a local community radio station – which actually, by the of Power of Grayskull the internet, goes out all over the world.

I also knit (primitively), crochet, invent recipes, cook other peoples’ recipes, make preserves and occasionally, watch TV. I go walking. There’s some amazing places in South Wales that were once industrial wasteland and are now bucolic landscapes, with thriving wildlife. See below.

Once looked like this…

And… I spend too much time on social media. Facebook and Quora, mostly.

I don’t have a method for organising my life – perhaps I should? What about you?
